A New Way to Save Money on Your Prescriptions
Billionaire Entrepreneur Mark Cuban Creates New Online Pharmacy for Low-Cost Generic Drugs
You may know him from Shark Tank, or as owner of the Dallas Mavericks, but billionaire entrepreneur Mark Cuban has now entered the discount mail order pharmacy business.
His new pharmacy, Mark Cuban Cost Plus Drug Company, located at https://costplusdrugs.com, is focusing on transparent pricing for key generic drugs.
Every product they sell is priced exactly the same way: Their cost + 15%, plus the pharmacy fee, if any.
This translates into extremely low costs and major savings for patients who are taking popular generic medications.
Here are a few examples of medications commonly taken in the thyroid and hormonal health community. Note that the prices listed are for a 30 day supply of the lowest strength.
Levothyroxine (Generic for Synthroid) for Thyroid Hormone Replacement
From the photos on the site, the generic manufacturer appears to be Lupin Pharmaceuticals.
Generic Levothyroxine: $4.20 for a 30-day supply (up to 150 mcg) and $4.50 for dosages of 175 mcg and higher. (Click here to go to order page.)
(At present, the only thyroid-specific drug available is levothyroxine, but hopefully more will be added going forward.)
Metformin Extended Release (ER) (Generic for Glucophage XR) for Insulin Resistance, Diabetes, and PCOS
Metformin ER: $4.50 for a 30-day supply
Fluconazole (Generic for Diflucan) for Candidasis/Yeast Infection
Fluconazole: $12.30 for a 30-day supply
The pharmacy has hundreds of drugs listed, in various categories, as noted below.
Of particular note, there are several drugs that offer incredible savings, from more than $100 up to more than $6,000 a month. For example, Aripiprazole (Generic for Abilify) is $6, compared to the retail price of $677.80, and Imatinib (Generic for Gleevec) is $17.10, compared to a retail price of $2,502.50.
